HMD announced three Nokia Android smartphones yesterday (plus the 3310 (2017) homage of a feature phone), and we got to spend a few minutes of hands-on time with them. The folks over at fonearena have spoken with Ajey Mehta, India VP at HMD Global, revealing some details on the manufacturing and logistics.
AAAThe Nokia 6, 5, and 3 will be manufactured in Foxconn's Indian facilities from the very beginning.
A launch date has been planned for June this year, and distribution will take place both online and offline through a network of partnering stores. After-sales support will be handled by HMD, which will establish a network of service centers throughout the country.
Official pricing hasn't been announced yet, but, with phones being made locally, logic would dictate that the numbers should be lower than a simple EUR-to-INR conversion.
Nokia finally launched new Android smartphones at MWC 2017 in Barcelona including the Nokia 3,5 and 6 devices. We had a chance to speak to Ajey Mehta, India VP at HMD Global who shed light on the company’s India plans. HMD plans to manufacture these phones through Foxconn in India from day one. The new Nokia Android phones are expected to hit stores in India by June this year.

The Nokia 3 is priced at 139 euros or Rs.9800 approximately, Nokia 5 is priced at 189 euros or Rs.13300 approximately and the Nokia 6 is priced at 229 euros or Rs.16000 approximately. The prices for India could be lower as the company aims to make these phones locally which could reduce the import duties.
Due to popular consumer demand the company is also bringing back its most popular feature phone – 3310 in an all new avatar and it will be coming to India too. The complete portfolio will support dual SIM functionality in India. The Nokia 3,5,6 will also support Jio’s 4G VoLTE networks as there is support for Band 3,Band 40 and Band 5.
